Founder, Degree Tracking

Hey! Hey! Hey!

I am a founder, an academic advisor, and someone who has been deeply invested in helping students succeed.

My Story

During my sophomore year in college (2019), I realized one thing. I did not have a platform to help me plan my courses. I would go to my advisor and be given a PDF sheet of what I needed to take. From there I had to keep up with everything on my own.

I started creating my own system using spreadsheets and color coding everything just to stay organized. Even now, that is what most students still do. Some schools have systems, but they are controlled by admins and not really built for students to organize things themselves. My school did not even have that.

At the time I did not even know platforms like that existed, so I started asking questions. I talked to other students and even did small surveys to understand what they were doing. Everyone was dealing with the same issue.

That is when it became my mission to create something better.

Building the Idea

During my sophomore year I spent a lot of time researching and understanding the problem. I started learning my course catalog in depth, understanding degree requirements, and how everything connects.

This led me to begin building Schedula AI, one of the first platforms I worked on to help students organize their courses and recommend what they should take in an optimal order.

I originally wanted to include AI and machine learning, but I did not know where to start adding AI to my project or ML so, I focused first on building something practical where students could select their degree and start tracking their progress.

College Experience

By my junior year, this idea became central to what I was doing in college. When it came time to choose my senior thesis, I decided to focus on how advising plays a role in student success and how taking the correct courses helps students graduate on time.

I used my software to run user testing, collect feedback, and understand student behavior.

Around this time, I also became what I called an unofficial academic advisor. Students in my department would come to me asking what courses to take, what options to choose, and what path made the most sense for them.

I noticed a pattern. Many students were taking classes that did not apply to their degree. That is one of the main reasons they were staying in school longer than four years.

After Graduation

After graduating, I had a decision to make. I enjoyed teaching, I had a background in tech with a degree in computer science and a minor in cybersecurity, and I had a strong interest in advising.

I decided to continue my education and pursue my MBA. During that time, I participated in business plan competitions with my platform and won at the regional level.

I also gained experience with companies like Microsoft and Zoom, which gave me exposure to the tech industry.

Choosing My Path

After grad school, I faced the same question again. Do I go into tech or do I go into advising.

I chose advising because that is where my passion truly is.

Today, I work full time as an academic advisor and I support hundreds of students. I enjoy understanding both sides of the experience, from the student perspective and the advisor perspective.

What I Am Building

Through my work as both a student and now an academic advisor, I realized the problem goes deeper than just planning classes. Students need a clear way to see their entire degree, understand what they have completed, what they still need, and how every course connects to their end goal.

That is what I am building with Degree Tracking.

Degree Tracking is a platform designed to give students full control over their academic journey. It allows students to organize their courses, track their degree requirements, and plan ahead in a way that actually makes sense to them. Instead of relying on PDFs, spreadsheets, or waiting on advising appointments, students can clearly see their progress, identify what they are missing, and make better decisions about what to take next. So, when they meet with thier academic advisors they are the ones leading the conversations.

I believe this will improve student lives in a real way. When students understand their path, they feel more confident, less stressed, and more in control of their future. It helps reduce the chances of taking unnecessary classes, saves time and money, and helps students move through college with clarity instead of confusion.

This platform is built from years of experience, research, and real conversations with students. It is shaped by what I saw as a student, what I studied, and what I now experience every day as an advisor working with hundreds of students.

I have been on this journey since around 2019, and this is not my first startup. I have built multiple projects, some that failed and some that are still running today.

I am continuing to grow, learn, and build.
